We all know that it is important to prepare for an interview. Once the interviewer is done with their questions, you have the opportunity to ask some questions yourself! This is a unique opportunity in the job search process to showcase your research, knowledge of the role or company, and your passion and interest in the position.
Here are some examples of questions to ask the interviewer at the end of a first-round interview:
1. “Once hired, what are the strategic priorities or projects for this role?"
This question illustrates that you are genuinely interested in the role, take the initiative, and think ahead. The answer to this question will inform you of the role's priorities and help you prepare for the second-round interview.
2. “What qualities are needed to be successful in this role?"
This question illustrates your drive and that you need to know how the supervisor or company measures success. The interviewer's answer to this question informs you of important skills you should highlight in the second-round interview.
3. “I value giving back to my community. Can you tell me more about your paid-day-off volunteer program?"
It is common to review the company's mission, vision, and values when researching a company. However, candidates often do not set aside enough time to compare those values to their own. This question informs the employer of your shared values and that you've done your research.
