Black Women's Equal Pay Day

August 13th is Black Women's Equal Pay Day.

As promised a few months ago, we took the time to listen, learn, and discover new avenues for action. One of those avenues is volunteering with #HIREBACK. Here are a few statistics provided by #HIREBLACK to encourage you to spread some love (and knowledge) around the significance of August 13th.

  • Black Women make $0.62 on every dollar a white man makes. This is a $1M gap in a lifetime.

  • On August 13th, Black American women must work into the year to earn the same salary as white men did in 2019.

  • Institute for Women's Policy Research found that, if current trends continue, Black Women will wait 108 years for equal pay.

If you want to participate by anonymously-submitting your salary information, it will take no more than 3-5 minutes of your time radically transparent. The hope that their database offers transparency to understand your professional market value. All allies to participate as well! The more data points, the more knowledge to know our worth!
